Written on February 16, 2008 Summary: Great resource...especially for parents of young autistic This book is a great resource for parents of newly diagnosed kids with autism. I am a therapist working with families with autistic children and recommend this book. Many parents "don't know where to start" and this book gives great basic ideas in activities that these kids would enjoy. It gives brief and concrete rationales. If you are looking for in-depth info on autism, you will not find it here. However it gives great practical suggestions for play activities and daily struggles such as potty-training, hair combing battles, behavior problems etc. Written on February 8, 2008 Summary: Addressing the Sensory is SO important This book gave me great ideas of what to do with my 3 year old daughter at home as well as reassured me her teacher and therapist are all on the same page as to what to do with her. I have seen PHENOMENAL success with my daughter by addressing her sensory issues. If your child has autism or PDD PLEASE get him or her into OT so you can learn how to address these needs at home.
