 Written on July 10, 2007 Summary: Great Reference Tool I really liked this book and found it very helpful. As a first time parent I am open to taking advice from several sources and found that this book provided useful information. It's easy to read and is organized so that going back to find information later is really easy. This is book is worth buying. Written on July 3, 2007 Summary: This Book Addresses all of those is this a problem type questions. This book is great. It answers all of those what do I do now type questions. If the answer is not in this book, they cite to other books and resources where you can find the answer. I highly recommend it. Written on June 27, 2007 Summary: Awesome!!!! Very well organized My wife and I love this book. It is clear, and concise (but pretty thorough) and very well organized. It is not dry or boring to read. A must buy for anyone who is having a child for the first time. Written on May 30, 2007 Summary: Finally - a PRACTICAL reference for new moms This book offers PRACTICAL, straight-forward advice on a variety issues from poop color to Rotovirus. I am a first time mom, and have referred to this book so many times it's currently held together by packing tape. I agree with another reviewer, that the write ups are not extensive (medical studies are not cited), but for a worry-wart like myself, the short, straight-forward answers are perfect. Questions are responded to with a summary of the issues and are accompanied by "Red Flags" and organized with "See a DR immediately if the following symptoms," "see a DR next day if the following symptoms," "watch and wait with the following symptoms." Personally, I have found that when I request an appointment to investigate an issue, the advise from my pediatrition mirrors that of Baby 411. I will often use this book hand-in-hand with "What to expect the first year" which has slightly more detail, and scarier write ups. Written on May 22, 2007 Summary: Great reference Before my son was born, I had some time to read a few chapters. Since it was to the point and had "case" scenarios, it prepared me for the rust-like spots in the diaper. Once my son was here, it got tough to read ahead; but even if I could read it all, it would be hard to retain all the information and possibilities. Even as a health care provider, it is a useful reference since I do not work with pediatrics. It's easy to look up things, and it's organized as a quick reference guide. This comes in handy, especially when you are busy and when something comes up. When my son had a high fever, it puts you at ease by addressing when to call and what to expect. It has great tips sections and talks about options, i.e. sleep training. Sometimes, you just don't have access to your online sources. |
