 Written on January 3, 2008 Summary: Just Terrible The artwork was so bad that it was almost impossible to tell what was going on in half the panels. The story was just pure trash. There is not one redeeming feature in Dark Knight Strikes Again. I have no clue why Frank Miller decided to follow up DKR with this garbage. I expected much more when I read this, and was sorely disappointed.  Written on November 21, 2007 Summary: Lackluster Return to Gotham I was kind of expecting much more from this graphic novel. I thought that the long-awaited sequel to TDKR would be an amazing, earth-shattering epic that would stand tall as it's predecessor does. After turning the last page, I knew that wasn't going to happen. Now don't get me wrong, TDKSA is a good read, but it's not very fun to look at. Miller's art is more cartoonish than I'm used to, and doesn't fit very well with Batman. The art is too colorful and garish for the kind of story Miller is trying to tell. In short, definitely read TDKR, but you'll do yourself no harm if you skip its "sequel." Written on October 23, 2007 Summary: What a mess A sloppy, train wreck of a book. It makes little to no sense and the artwork is atrocious. The Superman story line is the only redeeming quality, but everything else is a mess. A very strange low for otherwise great work from Miller and DC.  Written on September 2, 2007 Summary: Graphic SF Reader Cassie, the young Robin has decided she would rather be Catgirl, instead. Being older, I guess she reckons she looks good in a catsuit. Now a more experienced field operative, she leads missions for the Batman. There is a Kingdom Come type feel to this story as the heroes who are government sanctioned, and those who are not, line up for or against the Dark Knight. Written on August 14, 2007 Summary: ugh... the artwork is too sloppy to look at, the story is a meandering wad of lard... what the hell, Frank, did you whip all this out in a week for some desperate need for cash? Give your fans the respect they deserve. |
