   Summary: My Dog, My Friend
Opal has freckles, red hair and has a dog named, Winn-Dixie. Opal just moved from Watley to Naomi, Florida. She is ten years old. Opal has trouble making friends because her father is the preacher of the town, and if someone said a bad word, the person would think that Opal might tell on them. Then, they would get in trouble.

Winn-Dixie, a dog, helps Opal get a job and make friends. Opal has lots of friends at the end of the book. Some of them are Gloria Dump, the Dewberry boys, and Franny Block. Her best friend is Winn-Dixie.

I thought Winn-Dixie was a good book because I love dogs and funny books. If I rated this book from one to ten, it would be a ten because it is a really good book.

   Summary: My Best Friend, Winn-Dixie
Opal is a very caring and responsible ten-year-old girl. She is caring because she takes care of her dog, Winn-Dixie, and she does her job every week at Gertrude's Pet Shop. Opal looks like her mom because she has freckles and red hair, and she can run fast. Opal is also very good at planting things.

Opal's problem in the book is that she has no friends, and she's lonely. Opal is also lonely because she has no mom, and she just moved to a new town. One way the problem is solved is by having a party. Opal and Gloria invited Miss Franny, Amanda and Otis. Another way the problem is solved is that Opal gets a job at Gertrude's Pet Shop and makes friends with Otis.

This book was a good book to read because it had a lot of detail in it. Something else I liked is that it was funny and fun to read.

   Summary: Opal's Story
Opal is a ten-year-old girl that just moved to Naomi, Florida. She says she looks like her mom because she has freckles and red hair. Opal found a dog and named him, Winn-Dixie.

Opal misses her mom because she loved her, and she's very lonely because she has no friends in the beginning of the story. Opal solves this problem by making friends with Gloria Dump. Then, she asks her dad to tell her ten things about her mom.

I liked the book because of Gloria Dump and her green thumb. I also like the book because of the party at Gloria's house.

Summary: A Girl and Her Dog
Opal is a ten-year-old girl from Watley, Florida. She has red hair and freckles. Opal was lonely because she just moved to a new town called Naomi, Florida.

Opal's dog's name is Winn-Dixie. Winn-Dixie helped Opal make friends because she was so likeable and well mannered. Opal makes many new friends like Gloria Dump, Miss Franny, the Dewberry boys and Amanda Wilkinson. Otis was also a good friend that she met at Gertrude's Pet Shop.

Opal had a party at Gloria Dump's house. She invited Amanda Wilkinson, the Dewberry boys, Sweetie-Pie Thomas, Otis (the preacher), and of course, Gloria Dump.

I would recommend this book because it is funny and sad. I give this book five stars.

   Summary: Book vs. Movie
Because Of Winn Dixie is a good book with a certain warmth and familiarity. For those that have seen the movie but have not read the book, I recommend experiencing both. The book and movie are quite similar to each other, but I would recommend the book over the movie. After reading the book, you have a certain idea what Winn Dixie looks like. After seeing the movie however, your ideas over what EVERYTHING looks like will be different. I personally think the book conveys more of the emotions and feelings the author wanted to get through. I highly recommend this book.
