 Written on December 6, 2007 Summary: Beltronics RX-65 This detector is the second of the same model I've bought. It works better than any other detector I've owned. There are few false alarms and good early warnings. Written on November 17, 2007 Summary: a real ticket saver. Ther are speed traps everwhere, of all the radar detectors I ever owned this one actually works! It has for a fact saved me at least 2 tickets already! There is a one redlight town near where I live that has a speed limit of 30 from one end to the other, and believe me they write the tickets. It(RX65) pays for itself in 1 ticket. Written on October 23, 2007 Summary: CHEAP Suction Cups! It doesn't go off at every little thing like most radars, but it won't stay on my 07 Jeep Wrangler window either! For an expensive radar, you think they could have splurged on some decent suction cups. They do at least provide a 2nd set. Written on September 15, 2007 Summary: Excellent radar detector I bought one of these badboys and installed it in my car after Johnny Law gave my wife a ticket for speeding. I haven't owned a radar detector in 20 years, but it's funny because they still haven't changed. You'll pick up every convenience store microwave or trucker with a powerful radio within miles. Lots of false alarms! Still, I'd rather the detector be too sensitive than non-responsive. There are many settings to calm things down and avoid the nuisance of false alarms. The unit itself works great and has all the features you'd want. My two gripes would be that the volume adjustment is very odd (you have to hold a button down and scroll through the softest and the absosolute loudest settings before you get where you want to be), and the unit does not come with a clip to attach it to a visor. On the plus side the unit comes with a thorough manual and a very nice padded metal carrying case (great for stashing the unit under the seat when not in use).  Written on July 22, 2007 Summary: Warranty Issue The radar detector displayed a service required message after about 3 months of service. It was working great otherwise. Called Beltronics and they asked for the detector to be returned for service. Called Beltronics again when they did not respond after the detector had been delivered (based on the tracking information) and they said the vendor (Electronicis Expo) is not an authorized dealer and that they have to charge $59.95 for the service. Called Electronics Expo and they claimed they are an authorized Beltronics dealer, but Beltronics insisted on charging for the service. After a month and still no repaired detector. Called Beltronics and they still did not know what the problem was. The detector came back in a week and works as before. I assume I paid $59.95 to have the service required message removed and all the trouble to have it done!! I have no idea what Beltronics actually fixed -- nor did Beltronics's customer service for that matter. It's a great detector. Just make sure you bought it from Beltronics at their high price if you think the warranty is important. For me, even with the $59.95 extra I paid, I still pay less than Beltronics' price for the detector. |
