Professional Review:
The four award-winning stories of the Catwings are brought together in a brand-new, beautiful boxed set for the first time ever. Now readers can follow all of the adventures of the winged cats who escape the dangerous and dirty city to live in the countryside. From the original four cats, James, Roger, Thelma and Harriet, to their new friends, Jane and Alexander, the fantasy that is so wonderfully realistic is brought to life by S. D. Schindler's delicate, yet vibrant illustrations.

Summary: Wonderful book but DON'T buy hardcover version
This is a beautiful, imaginative, captivating story. I bought the book for my niece & am looking forward to giving it to her. Unfortunately the hardcover version (school & library binding) is defective. They've printed the cover design off-center and there is some text missing mid-book. It's possible this was a printing error with just my copy, but more likely it's an error that will show up on all the hardcover versions. Buy the paperback version instead.

Summary: Sweet, old-fashioned stories for those who love cats (and books)
Such beautiful, simple writing in these books. My six-year-old and I have been reading these together and the sweet simplicity of the prose by Le Guin reminds one how rare truly good writing is. Like a few others mentioned here, my daughter was upset when the kittens left their mother, but each story so far has ended on a happy note, so she seems content. We'll see how books 3 and 4 go--she is on tenterhooks waiting to start reading them, but it's bedtime, so she'll have to wait. A wonderful, well-priced gift.

Summary: Review on Catwings, a GREAT (but short) book by Ursula Le Guin
Hi! You can call me StoryMaker. I just read Catwings, a wonderful book by Ursula Le Guin. I checked it out from the library just the other day ago. It is a wonderful book that starts out about a cat named Mrs. Jane Tabby, a tabby cat that lives in the alley. She is VERY surprised when her kittens are born, because - guess what - the kittens have WINGS! However, one day, Jane thinks she knows why her kittens have wings - she can't afford to live in the noisy, dangerous alley any longer, and the least she can do is give her kittens a chance to escape. One day, Jane tells her kittens to fly far, far away. After some weeping, the four wonderfully winged cats fly away, as their mother instructed. If I continue this, I will litter my little review with plot-spoilers, so I better stop. Anyways, the story of Catwings is extremely great, however it is probably the shortest chapter book I ever read. Only 40 pages total! This book's reading level is pretty low, and if you're a mother who wants to get your kids to read longer books, you probably don't want to depend on Catwings to sasify your teaching needs unless you want to get a child to read thier very first chapter book. Another complaint is that there's a tiny bit of bloody talk on one page. However, the plot and pictures are so good that this book still is a full 5 star book. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"

   Summary: Catwings
I thought the book was great because it had a lot of imagination in it and I think it is a good book for kids and adults. My favorite part is when the kittens saw grass for the first time. Also the pictures were really detailed and the cats looked adorable. I recommend this book for all people who can read.
