 Written on November 11, 2006 Summary: ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! This book of language lessons is great. I'm using it with my 1st grader, and her memory retention with the material that we have gone over is amazing. She quotes our lessons in daily activities months after she has learned the material. She also is enjoying the feeling of success with the memorization of simple poetry. Written on November 4, 2006 Summary: An excellent educational tool I am so impressed with First Language Lessons. It is great. I have been homeschooling for 9 years now and we have 4 children. I love this book.. It is laid out so simple, and its so easy to implement. A must have for any teacher of young children. Written on November 3, 2006 Summary: first lessons this is an excellent book for k-2. repetition is the name of the game here. the book also gives step by step instructions for the teacher.  Written on October 18, 2006 Summary: Complete, yet dry We started with this book to lay the foundation for language arts, and gave up after two weeks. Our girls hated it, because it was so boring and tedious. After each question is the oral response the child is to give, and our kids just don't learn like this. It reminded me of the old fashioned one room school room approach, were the children in each grade had to memorize their lessons and recite them back to their teacher. They may be able to spout out the correct response, but may not have a clue what they just "learned". I loved the idea of this book, being simple and concise. But ultimately we moved on to Latin, after understanding the reality of english grammer from 'The Latin Centered Curriculum' website. Now my daughter loves Latin and English and has easily learned and retained the grammer she learned from it. Written on March 14, 2006 Summary: Great book for young learners Easy to follow instructions. Lessons are very short and do-able. Easy to accomplish in typical school year without burnout. |
