   Summary: Wonderful Classic
"From the Mixed-up Files...' is one of the great books for middle school-aged children. Years ago I enjoyed reading it after my daughter recommended it. This year I gave it to my niece. Not to be missed!

   Summary: A Sculpture Mystery
A mysterious sculpture is making the headlines of the national media. Yet few know that two enterprising kids are hiding away in the Metropolitan Museum of Art where the mystery erupts. Claudia is a bright, young, and determined girl who decides to teach her parents a lesson by running away. She enlists the help of her frugal younger brother, Jamie, and together they embark on a remarkable journey. It is not just running away from their family to nowhere, but to a museum, where they walk right into a mystery about the origin of the historical sculpture known as the Angel. Determined to help solve the mystery, they blend in with the crowds exploring the museum during the day, hide out during the nights, and along the way collecting clues about the sculpture. Putting the pieces together leads them on a journey up north to find Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, an art collector and the seller of the Angel. They learn the truth from Basil, and a whole lot more about themselves from both Mrs. Basil and their journey.

I love this book because of the humor mixed in with an interesting plot involving runaways and lots of close call situations. The premise of the book is not realistic, but the author crafts the story with realistic figures and lots of intricate details that one expects in the real world. An interesting aspect of the book is how the author chose to leave off what normally would be the natural start and end of the book. The missing start is the reason to run, and the missing end is the return home.

Summary: I Want to Go There!
I want to go to New York to see this museum. This book was incredible and I loved the style of writing and the way the story unfolded letting each character have their own voice. I loved the notes at the end from the author. I really could tell she loved these characters and did care about their ever after. Every child should read this book. Wait, every adult should read this book!
