For ages women have come together over coffee, cocktails, or late-night phone chats to analyze the puzzling behavior of men. He's afraid to get hurt again. Maybe he doesn't want to ruin the friendship. Maybe he's intimidated by me. He just got out of a relationship. Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo are here to say that -- despite good intentions -- you're wasting your time. Men are not complicated, although they'd like you to think they are. And there are no mixed messages. The truth may be He's just not that into you. Unfortunately, guys are too terrified to ever directly tell a woman "You're not the one." But their actions absolutely show how they feel. HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU -- based on a popular episode of Sex and the City -- educates otherwise smart women on how to tell when a guy just doesn't like them enough, so they can stop wasting time making excuses for a dead-end relationship. Reexamining familiar scenarios and classic mind-sets that keep us in unsatisfying relationships, Behrendt and Tuccillo's wise and wry understanding of the sexes spares women hours of waiting by the phone, obsessing over the details with sympathetic girlfriends, and hoping his mixed messages really mean "I'm in love with you and want to be with you." HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU is provocative, hilarious, and, above all, intoxicatingly liberating. It deserves a place on every woman's night table. It knows you're a beautiful, smart, funny woman who deserves better. The next time you feel the need to start "figuring him out," consider the glorious thought that maybe He's just not that into you. And then set yourself loose to go find the one who is. |

Summary: I prefer another I get the point of this book, but I much prefer the kinder and more dignified "Ditching Mr. Wrong" by Nicholas Aretakis, which also covers how to move on, begin dating again, quickly assess your new man, and form a wonderful relationship. "He's Just Not That Into You" doesn't help you form a new, worthwhile relationship, and that is of course the desired result of this whole dating game. "Ditching Mr. Wrong" is a fun, interesting and more informative read. Summary: Better to Deal With the Truth This is one of those books that spells out for us what we already know deep down inside: whether or not a guy is truly "ours". On some level most women do understand this, but some fail to identify this truth and apply it. They may be in denial, they may find a challenging man irresistible, etc. By the time you are making excuses for a man (he's busy, he's shy, he's afraid of commitment, etc) the embers are already dying and the cause is already lost. I hate to quote a Sex and the City character, but it IS liberating once you understand this concept. Once you respect that it is the man's "job" to pursue you, you will rest easy and no longer labor or struggle to make a relationship work. In short, the relationship shouldn't be "work" for the woman, and if it is, then something is wrong. I would not call this book ground-breaking, but it is a good primer that sheds light on the male-female dynamic. This is the kind of book that can spell out for you the very thing that you may be failing to articulate for yourself. Summary: !!!! Read this book and live by it's rules. Your life as a lady will be so much less coomplicated. It will take any power you idiotically gave to a man and give it back to you. Ladies stop taking excusses from them, stop waiting for there calls, and stop crying over them. No man is worth your tears. It's time to take back your power. Also a great book to couple this one with is "Why Men Love Bitches" (I know, i don't like the title either, but it works!) Relationshhips wont be nothin' but a thang when you get through with these two books. HOLLA Summary: Wish I had this book YEARS ago I literally used red colored Post-it flags for many pages, and a highlighter and pencil, for symbolizing RED FLAGS in my personal life, and how I wish I'd been more perceptive, mere months ago. This book is telling man secrets, which is GREAT to finally know. I'll be much more careful in the event I ever date again, thanks to this book. Summary: Fun audio--Don't Waste the Pretty! I decided to get this audio after reading a junk book called the Player Slayer. For some reason, this book came up after I made that purchase. Anyway ... This was a fun audio to listen to. It was very funny. Comments such as "use your breakup period to meditate, buy selfhelp books, or murder" had me cracking up. I laughed through much of the audio. As a result, I don't understand how the reviewers could take this book THAT serious. It is clear that you are suppose to take from this book the general principle: ****Don't waste time on a man that disrespects you, uses drugs or alcohol, keeps you waiting, and never calls when he states he is going to call.***** The above summarizes the whole book. The rest of the book is fluff and I think that was made blatantly clear with the jokes and so forth. I pretty much agreed with the book, but I am torn on one issue. Greg states NEVER call a guy or ask a guy out. He also advices not to pursue a relationship with such a guy. This causes a problem for me because I have met MANY men recently who stated that their fear of rejection keeps them from asking for numbers or asking someone out and, thus, appreciate when the woman makes the first move. These me also, however, state that once the first move has been made by the woman that she needs to FALL BACK and let him finish the game. Therefore, Greg is right that men do love to win the chase; it is, however, debatable if women should initiate the chase or the man. I recommend this book for those women who date alcoholics, losers, drug heads and abusers. This is the book clearly written for them. Women with any sense will just find this book funny. Case in point: Don't date a married guy. Well DUH!! |
