But the young bride has secretly invited some guests of her own three men from her mom’s past, one of whom is the girl’s biological father. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours, new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled, in this warm and hilarious adaptation of one of the most popular musicals ever written. |

Written on October 30, 2008 Summary: Mama Mia What fun. I cannot sit still while listening to this recording. The music is toe-tapping and no matter what I do around the house, it is fun with this music in the background. The voices are not the best but to me that is what makes this performance so real. I play it all the time I am in my car. It is like watching the movie all over again. Written on October 25, 2008 Summary: If Only Brosnan Didn't Sing More than seven years after it opened on Broadway, the recent tidal wave of stage-to-screen musical adaptations finally launched the film version of the hugely popular "Mamma Mia!". The largely enjoyable movie, starring Meryl Streep, brings the fun of ABBA's musical to the big screen. While a few songs from the stage version are dropped, the best songs, sung by the actors themselves, were included in the film. All do an admirable job, with the exception of Pierce Brosnan - who, while a good actor & easy on the eyes, simply has a terrible "fingernails-on-the-chalkboard" voice. I love ABBA's music. The originals bring back great childhood memories, while the cast cd is almost equally as fun. The film soundtrack, though not on par with its predecessors, remains enjoyable. You may just want to skip the couple of tracks "sung" by Mr. Brosnan. I play it everyday to inspire me and keep me HAPPY. My family enjoys it too and we sing along to most of the songs.
