 Written on October 22, 2007 Summary: Essential design book. What's the deal with the price? As I said before in these boards, this book is absolutely essential for any Graphic designer, student or profesional. I can't say enough good thing about its content, which I find completely worthy of its "high" price, due to the fact that it covers the full history of mankind and its visual achievements through the ages. The research done here is THE BEST in the graphic design area, and yes, Meggs devoted a LARGE portion of his life writing and correcting it. I find quite a discussion in the reviews about the book's price. Let me tell you something: here in Colombia, the spanish version of this book costs well over 100 U$, and even so when I bought it as a student a few years ago I thought this was an absolute bargain!! This book started to grow on me, and it never stopped!! Absolute respect for Mr Meggs, who sadly enough isn't with us anymore for a new revision of his wonderful book.  Written on September 15, 2007 Summary: Must have for Graphic Designer!!! Great book with expansive price, thats why i put 3 stars only,, i get that book only MYR 80.00 (in USD around 23 dollar) if you are student, especially Limkokwing University Student you can ask your Design History lecture,, Written on August 1, 2007 Summary: My faveorite textbook I didn't want to sell this back to the store it was so good. It is in my library for reference when ever I need it. Written on March 18, 2007 Summary: Wonderful Book This book is a great comprehensive history of graphic communication from the cave paintings till today. I'm using it as textbook for one of my classes in college and it is wonderful. It is also beautifully designed. Written on March 8, 2007 Summary: awesome One of the best book I bought on the subject. Buy it. it's a great source of inspiration. |
