 Written on May 19, 2008 Summary: GREAT INFORMATION! I used the Bradley Method to deliver in the late 70's, early 80's. Now my girls are having kids and this book is just as informative NOW as it was 25 years ago. Wonderfully full of information you just don't get from hear say. Well written and easy to understand. Written on May 15, 2008 Summary: Childbirth & pregnancy If you're having a baby, or trying to, get this book. Once you're in your second trimester, find a Bradley method teacher. You'll find how amazingly this method can improve your childbirth process and dramatically shorten recovery.  Written on May 1, 2008 Summary: Mothers-to-be Be Ware I have read the book with my husband while pregnant with my first baby, terrified of delivering the baby. The ideas in this book sound beautiful, and at the time they made me feel better, but I wish I never read it. It made things much worse for me during labor as it pushed me to make wrong choices, such as asking for "less drugs". Now I know better. Getting an epidural does not hurt! It does not affect awareness or pushing! Baby is born aware and strong! It takes nothing from the experience, and you still feel the pain at the end, and enough of it, believe you me. I wish I got more drugs, not less. All "bad" epidurals happened 10 years ago. That was when the Bradley method last made sense.  Written on April 29, 2008 Summary: a serious commitment I bought this book hoping to pick up some tips on making birth easier, along with information on the birthing process to help me become better informed. While the book does a great job of explaining birth, it is not the best option for those women looking for additional help - it promotes a serious commitment to the Bradley method, including weeks and weeks of Bradley classes. In short, while informative, this book is really aimed at women intent on practicing the Bradley method who have plenty of time to devote to finding Bradley classes, along with doctors/midwives who are comfortable with the method.
