Professional Review:
It's instant relief for when your 2-year-old is on the floor of the toy store, pitching a fit. Or when brother and sister discover that they can't stand each other. Or when your son can't say no to video games.

THE POCKET PARENT is, literally, a pocket-size book of tried-and-true advice, common sense, parental wisdom, and sanity. Written by two professionals who've reared six children between them and made a career out of helping others with parenting issues, this handy book will be a lifesaver for every parent of a 2-to-5-year-old. It begins with an overall view of the Pocket Parent approach to discipline. Based on unconditional love but firm limits, and aimed at keeping the child's dignity and self-esteem intact, here are strategies that include "I" statements, modeling, family meetings, and "one word" requests. Once the ground rules are set, the guide moves to an A-to-Z compendium of common problems. Just look it up-Anger, Bad Words, Biting, Chores, Doctor Visits, Fears at Night, Lying, Separation Anxiety-and find the "Sanity Savers" list of suggestions, easy-to-follow bullets, anecdotes, and more.

For the bag, glove compartment, backpack, or shelf in the kitchen, it's there for you whenever you need it.

   Summary: Great Advice!
Being a first time mom of a now 2 year old, I wanted to make sure I have everything possible to help me be the best mom I can for my son! This book is really great! It's written by real people who have truly been there! You will laugh and you will realize that no book can raise a child, but THIS book really can help you when you need that extra guidance at the time you are at your wits end! It's a very reasonable price; which at first made me think it wouldn't be good. I was wrong. They made it afforadable to ensure everyone can get their own copy! I highly recommend it!

   Summary: GREAT RESOURCE
All the positive things people say about this book are true. I love it - the information, the layout, the multiple viewpoints for the different parenting styles. I would recommend this to any parent of any style looking for a quick resource for common childhood problems.

Summary: A must-have guide to evolve the best in your children
Would you like your child(ren) to grow up to be empathetic to the feelings of others, well-behaved, and able to develop and enjoy their best given talents?
Of course! We all want to be proud of our children.
This unique, sensitive and humorous roadmap to our desire as parents to feel that we have done right for our children, is indispensable to that end.
We are the product of our beliefs.
Those beliefs are laid down in the very early years of our being. Between the age of 0 to 9 we parents are entrusted to construct the foundation upon which our children believe in themselves and learn to perceive the environment around them.
The authors, Gail and Caroline, have provided us with valuable tools parents can use to help a child develop the richest of their potentials, in an environment of support, confidence and trust. Their compassion and love for wanting to evolve beautiful and caring humans, and thus a better world for all of us, is remarkably expressed in "The Pocket Parent".
As a health professional, I truly believe in this book. As a new grandparent, I feel so scrumptiously lucky to have this available to me and my family. My young granddaughter's experiences will be filled with more joy, wonder and fulfillment, as she grows up rich in solid values and healthy, mindful beliefs.
May this labor of loving understanding of the authors also contribute to your children's destiny to their better, more successful, healthier and more confident world.

Summary: Parents - Not the best book on discipline or behaviour
This book has some practical tips, but mostly it's very shallow and I don't think it addresses the real problems that come up with raising families and children.

   Summary: problem kids
I am a Family Medicine doctor who takes care of kids but am by no means an expert, especially in dealing with the well child and her parents who are having diffuculties. The Pocket Parent has been helpful to me and them.
