 Written on June 9, 2005 Summary: The best of the bunch I can't believe it has taken me 5 years to actually write this review. I bought The Romantic's Guide when it first came out and I still go back to it from time to time and still find the ideas fresh and creative. His site, TheRomantic.com is also fantastic. I am a bit of a romance-aholic as I love to romance my sweetheart of 12 years. I have a collection of about 15 romantic ideas books and here is my current top 5 in terms of usefulness and creativity. 1. The Romantic's Guide 2. Creative Romance 3. Romantic Antics 4. Ready for Romance 5. 1001 Ways to Be Romantic Written on May 20, 2005 Summary: Good book as a reference. I find usefull this book, though, as others point, some ideas are a little bit goofy, but, what the hell!, romantics is about that, doing things that may seem alien to others, but that your sweet pie likes. But the fact is what author points: to be romantic you must be original. So, the tips are only a guide, a inspirational relations of ideas. If you have the atitude you can find inspiration everywhere. That's what I make of it. Written on October 5, 2004 Summary: Made Me Cry My last few boyfriends wouldn't know a thorn from a flower if they had one stuck up their nose. This book made me cry -- because no guy I have ever dated has been this sweet. Now, on my next first date I am giving this book to him and tell him this is what I want from my man. If you are a guy -- YES, we women REALLY do want to be romanced like this!  Written on August 11, 2004 Summary: Good but outdated ideas In an attempt to include a wealth of resources. The book is easily outdated. There are many ideas and I strong suggest to expand on them. They provide a trigger for your own imagination. However, some websites are no longer in use. But don't let this bring you down. There is a feeling of motivation to be romantic after going through the ideas. If the object/website/thing no longer exists, use your imagination and give it a new twist. I found it did turn my attitude. I became more happy because I kept on trying to come up with ideas to make someone else happy.  Written on August 1, 2004 Summary: Ideas are too goofy to try My boyfriend tried 1 item from this book, which worked great. The other ideas he thought were too goofy to try, so its been collecting dust on the shelf. For men who aren't quite sure what romance is or how to be romantic, I think you need to start slower & have more beefier manly ideas. Also, the ideas need to be simply not a huge involvement required, or no man is going to be willing to give it try. That's my 2 cents. |
