Professional Review:
2008 Limited Edition includes bonus disc. Seven Lives Many Faces is Enigma's seventh album. This album expands the sound catalogue of previous releases and it is expected to lead to a new Omni-Cultural wave. The lead single "Seven Lives" is a powerful fusion of modern and classical elements. Enigma is an Electronic musical project founded by Michael Cretu, David Fairstein and Frank Peterson in 1990. Cretu is both the composer and the producer; his former wife Sandra often provided vocals on Enigma tracks. Jens Gad co-produced and played guitar on three of the Enigma albums.17 tracks.

Summary: Not their best, but still very good!
I think a lot of people are dissapointed because this album is a little different then Enigma's previous albums. That doesn't make it bad, it is just a little different. I was a bit scared when buying this album because I didn't know if I would like it or not. But after listening to it a few times, I think it is really good. Yes, there are a couple of tracks that aren't that great, but that is ok. I didn't like every song on all of Enigma's other albums either. You can listen to some of the songs on youtube first if you want an idea of what you are getting. What puzzles me, is that other reviewers say that this album is too much hip hop like and one of their favorite songs is Seven Lives; but that song is the most hip hop of them all! It has some beat box type singing and rhythms, which is different but sounds ok and overall the song is really good. I would say overall, this album is not as emotional or sexual as some of Enigma's past work. It is still a great buy and will be enjoyable for most Enigma fans (listen with an open mind!). I got this album at Walmart for $13.99 (the 2 cd set), they also sell the 1 cd album for $11.99.. way cheaper then Amazon which is surprising.

Summary: SPECTACULAR! Words cannot do this justice!
I am appalled at the negative reviews on this page and am absolutely compelled to defend this marvelous seventh release from Cretu himself as Enigma.

Like all previous Enigma releases, I was excited about the them-upcoming release of their seventh album appropriately entitled "Seven Lives Many Faces" but even that excitement could not prepare me for the adventure that this album turned out to be. Despite being only two years removed from their sixth album "A Posteriori", it is as different from that as day and night in many ways. The entrancing album cover alone almost perfectly portrays the mood of the CD. Gone are the more space-oriented trance atmosphere of the former and this album is a sort of homecoming to the spirit of the first four albums without copying any elements of them. The echoing cello-strings of the title track is arguably the greatest jolting intro since the thundering drum beat of "Push The Limits" greeted "The Screen Behind The Mirror" many years back. From there, it develops into an experimental song that combines some classic elements with ironically enough HIP HOP! I ususally despite post-1997 hip-hop with a passion but on some rare occassions, it has produced some great material and "Seven Lives" is among the most experimental and greatest songs Enigma has ever done. The same goes for almost every track that follows. Some of my favorites are "La Puerta Del Ceilo" with it's haunting Portuguese lyrics, and danceable beat. Other greats include "Deja Vu", "Distorted Love", and "Between Generations". I don't care about what many others say. "Seven Lives" is Enigma's greatest release this decade. Highly recommended!

   Summary: 'New Age' music
Michael Cretu blew me out of the water again! Mr. Cretu is constantly pushing the envelope to make some of the deepest most spiritual music you will ever hear. If you don't like it fine but let everyone have their own opinion. Don't push yours on and that is what Enigma is all about.

   Summary: The weekest album
I listened to this CD 3 times. I thought that I was missing something. It was boring and repetitious. I was going to give one star, but I loved the CD cover art very much.

   Summary: Very disappointing
I have been a huge fan of Enigma ever since I bought their first album. I own, and frequently listen to, all of Enigma's previous albums and have loved them all. However, this album was very disappointing! What happened?! :( I hardly liked a single one of the songs on either disc I bought the 2-disc edition of Seven Lives Many Faces). There were only two songs that I thought were okay but I probably wouldn't listen to them again. This is very surprising for me. Considering how much I liked all of Enigma's previous albums, I never expected to think this new album was bad. In the past I always looked forward to Enigma's next album as soon as their latest brillantly-composed music was released.
