 Written on May 14, 2008 Summary: My daughter was raised on this program I came in contact with "Love & Logic" when my daughter was around 7. Many friends had heard about this and were talking about the tapes, and passing them around. I hesitated, as I didn't want to listen to long boring speeches about the degradation of youth. My friend said I was in for a treat. Jim Fay is a gifted speaker, he explains, tells, sympathizes, and TEACHES with a great sense of humor! I love listening to him. When he came to our town we didn't hesitate to pay to hear more about how to help our children learn about the "real world" and how not to punish ourselves at the same time! You actually learn how to discipline children, ( even grown children who come back into your life and home) with dignity and respect. As with any program it's not magic, I've seen friends of mine read and read BUT NEVER APPLY what they learned, like LETTING A CHILD ACTUALLY SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF HIS ACTIONS!!!! WOW doesn't that sound like LOGIC? There are many gems in each book, tape, and I recommed them all in every aspect of life. It works, my daughter is balanced, married, and we never suffered outright rebellion, or the "teenage disasters" so common today. Children need structure and this is a great basis. Written on May 11, 2008 Summary: My Favorite Teaching Tool This is my favorite teaching tool of all time. It should be read by every teacher and parent as well. So many great tips, strategies and techniques that actually work! Use these principles and children will wait on you to learn! I beleive as an educator, counselor and parent for 30 years that the purpose of education is to empower our children and this book does just that. As an author, I too continue to address this issue on how to empower children to take personal responsibility for creating productive and happy lives. Joanne Scaglione, author:Bully-Proofing Children: A Practical, Hands-On Guide to Stop Bullying and Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook. Check them out. Written on May 10, 2008 Summary: A Life Saver I am a special education teacher and this book was very helpful. I feel that ALL children need limits and boundaries but within that need to know that they are loved and cared for. This book provided many suggestions on ways to approach children rationally and calmly in the classroom. Written on April 21, 2008 Summary: Teaching with Love & Logic just makes sense! This is an excellent resource for teachers at any grade level. Love and Logic allows me to go home at the end of the day with very little stress and happy students. It helped our staff to build healthy relationships with parents and students as well as letting the kids own the responsibility for their actions. It is inspiring and easy... this book is a MUST HAVE for every educator's library. Written on February 11, 2008 Summary: A must own! This book has saved my teaching career. My first year of teaching sucked! I was losing my mind yelling at students and trying to control them. I would not have lasted another year if it were not for another teacher suggesting this to me. At that point I would have tried anything because I was so frustrated, so I read it and it made sense. The following year I still found myself yelling and controlling but the incidences were fewer and further between. I am now in my 4th year of teaching and I monitor myself with the rules of Love and Logic and I enjoy my day, and so do my students. I teach high school mathematics, and this book has changed my life in so many ways. There is simply no other way to teach. |
